"EXCELLENCE THROUGH COMMITMENT AND HARD WORK"
Abinaya Arts Academy is a premier Bharathanatyam dance institution located in La Jolla, Southern California. Founded by Aler Krishnan in 1994, the main goal of the institution is to promote the Indian classical dance form. The institution strives to preserve the purity of Bharathanatyam and emphasizes on achieving excellence in Bharathanatyam through commitment and hard work.
CLASS STRUCTURE:
The institution strongly believes in 'Group based learning'. This mode of teaching helps the students to learn from their peers mistakes as well as from their own. It also promotes a positive competitive atmosphere among students that will greatly enable them to excel in the class. Accordingly, the dance lessons are strictly conducted in groups. Students of similar capabilities are grouped together in groups of 4-5.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
To begin with, students are selectively accepted at the beginners level. They are admitted on a 1-month trial basis. In the 1-month trial period, students are evaluated on their interest level to the art form, the amount of practice they do outside the class and more importantly, their fit to the peer-based approach. If the students pass the evaluation, they will be asked to continue. Otherwise the parents are advised to seek other avenues for their kids.
Only students aged 5 and above are eligible to be admitted. Those parents who are interested in admitting their kids are requested to come and observe the class first and become fully convinced with the way the class is taught. In order to maintain the smooth progress of the class, only a limited number of parents are allowed to observe the class at any given time. So, please contact us ahead of time and fix up a time to observe the class.
CLASS TIMINGS:
Classes are held every Sunday from 3 - 5 PM (except major holiday weekends) at Aler's home studio.
